DESCRIPTION

If you find yourself wandering through East London, there’s one establishment you absolutely cannot miss: Tayyabs. Nestled at 83-89 Fieldgate St, this Punjabi gem has become a culinary beacon for both locals and visitors alike. The allure of Tayyabs lies not only in its vibrant atmosphere but also in the rich, authentic flavors that define its extensive menu.

Tayyabs is famed for its lamb chops, often described as "smoky," "tender," and "perfectly charred," they are indeed a dish fit for both casual diners and serious food enthusiasts. Diners rave about the lamb chop masala and the classic chicken karahi, complemented by fresh, pillowy naan that simply begs to be dunked into luscious gravies. The experience is nothing short of electrifying; from the moment you step inside, the enticing aroma wraps around you like a warm embrace.

Many patrons describe their experience at Tayyabs as transformative. Take, for instance, one customer who humorously reflected on his journey from America, leaving not just satisfied but spiritually reborn after savoring the restaurant’s Tikka Masala. This wasn't just food; it was a profound experience—a moment that blurs the line between culinary delight and spiritual awakening. Such fervent enthusiasm speaks volumes about the quality and authenticity that Tayyabs has cultivated over the years.

Every dish here tells a story, infused with spices that sing and textures that dance. The mutton karahi is described as rich and hearty, showcasing the chef’s mastery over robust flavors. Those looking for something light yet fulfilling will love the chicken saag, where creamy spinach envelops tender pieces of meat, inviting you into a realm of comforting delight.

The service at Tayyabs is another reason to visit; it’s fast-paced yet attentive, with staff who are well-versed in the menu and eager to make your dining experience unforgettable. And if you’re hoping to indulge in a sweet treat to conclude your meal, don’t overlook the kulfi that promises a refreshing end to your flavorful journey.

In short, Tayyabs is not merely a restaurant; it is a rite of passage for anyone seeking to explore authentic South Asian cuisine. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a curious first-timer, a visit to Tayyabs guarantees an unforgettable meal that captures the heart of Punjabi flavors in every bite. Just remember to book ahead—this renowned eatery is a hot spot, and for good reason!

Came here for iftar this place is iconic been coming here since I was young and the food quality has never been compromised. The tandoori lamb chops are out of this world and the lamb chop masala was so good. Chicken karahi also amazing with the yummy nan breads. I recommend coming here if you want authentic desi food. I found regulars and diverse people coming here to eat. The mango milkshake is elite. The sweet section on the way out is great too don’t forget to try it.

One of my favourite places to have Indian/Pakistani flavours on this side of London. Lamb chops are to die for here so definitely recommend that. Busy place so definitely book in advance, tho service is attentive and the food arrives to the table quite quickly.

I walked into this place an American man. I left a sweating, euphoric, spiritually reborn uncle with a mission to find Indian daughters in law for my sons. Not for cultural diplomacy, but because I now want a wedding catered exclusively by this kitchen. The Daal? Not just good. It was “call your own mother and apologize” level good. I took one bite and felt like every Indian mother across the subcontinent collectively nodded in approval. I cried a little. Possibly from the spice. Possibly from emotion. Hard to say. I was sweating from places I didn’t know had sweat glands. My ears were damp. The dry meat? Oh sweet curry gods. It arrived sizzling, looking like it was hand delivered by a deity who was like, “I saw your sins, but here’s forgiveness on a sizzling platter.” I don’t know which Indian god to credit, but whoever handles flavor bombs and redemption arcs, this was clearly their doing. Then came the Tikka Masala. Except this wasn’t just Tikka Masala. This was Tikka Masalavation. It was creamy, spicy, tangy, and somehow flirted with me through the bowl. I made eye contact with it. It winked. I panicked. I’ll never be the same. I don’t know how I can go back to regular Indian food. Everything else is now just “British Airways Terminal Curry” in comparison. Tayyabs isn’t a restaurant. It’s a calling. A spiritual awakening served with naan. If you’re in London and you don’t eat here, you didn’t really go to London. You just visited the idea of it. 11/10. Send help. And wedding proposals.

Tayyabs is an East London icon — loud, lively, and unapologetically flavourful. It’s the kind of place where the energy is electric, the aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and the food speaks for itself. The lamb chops are hands down the star of the show — smoky, tender, and perfectly charred with just the right amount of heat. The chicken tikka is another winner — juicy, well-marinated, and fresh off the grill. Pair that with hot, pillowy naan or their crispy, buttery garlic paratha, and you’re in for a treat. The Mutton Karahi is rich, robust, and deeply spiced — a proper hearty dish that’s full of depth. The Chicken Saag, with its creamy spinach base and tender meat, brings a lovely balance to the table. Service is fast-paced but efficient, and the staff know the menu inside out — they’ll happily guide you if you’re unsure. Whether you’re here for a big feast or just a plate of those iconic chops, Tayyabs never disappoints. Just be sure to book ahead — queues are real, and rightly so!

Food was great.. very authentic and fresh. Everything is cooked when you order. And the naan is tasty and perfect to dip into the curry. The kulfi is great as well to end the meal.

Great food in a vibrant environment. It reminds me of some of the best meals I had in India. Reservation recommended or be prepared for a wait. BYOB and there's a Tesco Express right down the street.

Came here twice in last few months. Amazing Pakistani food. Nice portions. Lots of good menu options. Place gets crowded so get reservations. And be prepared to come home with all of your clothes smelling like onions and spices!

We visited this restaurant after watching review video on YouTube. It was said that the restaurant gets very busy so we already reserved a time while being in the Netherlands. We arrived a bit earlier but it was not a problem as it was not the rush hour yet. We ordered the grilled lamb chops, sheesh kebab and lamb karahi. The grilled lamb chops were simply fantastic and so were the sheesh kebabs. The lamb karahi was tasty but it was not as special as the other two. We ordered few naan breads with the meal and they were also very nice. If you like grilled kebabs and lamb chops, definitely pay them a visit. Compared to the price and quality that we get in the Indian restaurants in the Netherlands, I would say it is much much better.
